Craig Lautenslager runs New Zealand’s fastest 10K time of the year

Craig Lautenslager was less than satisfied with his performance at Sunday’s Portland (Oregon) Track Festival.  Had the National Academy of Distance Running star kept up with the second pack in the  High Performance 10,000m race, he would have smashed his personal best of 29min. But he succumbed to the hot pace and fell back to 12th place.
Still, his time of 29:14.81 gives him the fastest time of New Zealand runners this year. He also ranks third in the 5,000m with 13:44.53 and 11th in the 1,500m with 3:48.18. His brother Jeff, a recent graduate of Boise State University, ranks one spot ahead with 3:47.53.
In his career Craig has now posted 10,000m times of 29:00, 29:05, 29:14, and 29:18.  He won the 2017 New Zealand 10,000m Championship in 29:44.
Craig competes next in the Peachtree 10K along with 70,000 other runners in the Fourth of July race.
